Amy Lennard

“It’s better to be disliked for who we are than loved for who we are not”

I have always been one to follow my own heart come what may.  I grew up in Roslyn Long Island. My family was not at all musical but I requested a guitar at the age of 10 and learned the basic chords. When I graduated college I got in a car with my boyfriend at the time and drove to California where I found a remote commune to live on. I was determined to live off the grid at the time.  It was there I found my love and talent for song writing.  I played around many campfires and outdoor festivals.  The roosts scene was amazing. At 30 though I was in crisis. I went on a ‘vision quest’ and soon after found myself on a plane back to NYC. Since then, I have worked to hone my craft and emerge as an artist.  I have struggled to find my voice. But I am happy with this record, which is a huge relief. The song “ I Wish It Were Mine’ has gotten a buzz wherever I go so I gave the record that name. I also plan to release that song as a single at the end of the summer. The Ep will be released later this fall 2011. I will be performing in the Southeast Midwest and East coast on tour beginning September 27.

I want to thank all the great musicians, teachers and producers who have helped, inspired or believed in me up to this point: Oz Noy, Marc Schulman, Tony Tino, Dan Vonnegut, Jerry Marotta, Peter Bliss, Shawn Pelton, Ben Wisch, Jon Gordon,  Ken Rich, George Petit,  and my current producer Andy Stack, along with my family and friends.

My mission statement is to write great timeless songs with a compassionate message and to share them with the world. Giving people a glimpse into the joy and freedom inside themselves.
